RE: The OBX Report

Thanks for the update, I guess I am surprised that it is that deserted, but maybe we should not be due to gas prices? Yesterday I just completed my reservations for Ocean Waves for September. We will be taking the week down there. What is the source of the fire?

RE: jayco question

Have one and use it all the time. Not really any problems to report. Sure it can get smoky under the awning but that happens at home on my deck anyway! Does seem to be just a tad bit slower, but if I am in a hurry should I be camping anyway?? I am suppose to be relaxing!

RE: Planning Trip to Erie, PA...any suggestions

The fam and I had a great time at Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park in February 2008. We were there in the dead of winter, during a 3 day snowstorm so we only got to visit the lake once during a break in the storms, but the Island did look like a great place. It also looked like they were building a cool roller coaster at the Waldemeer Amusment Park. We will be going back.

Definitely Dave Smith! They used to even pick you up at the airport in Spokane WA.

RE: West Virginia to Hatteras NC

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sounds like MandKFarmer's directions are the way to go. It does sound a bit confusing but I will google map it and it should be fine--after all I am a visual person!
Awesome information on the seafood stop! That is exactly what I was going to ask next! Growing up on the water, having moved inland, we are missing the fresh seafood and we are really looking forward to some good quality seafood while we are there.
Any suggestions on where to stay enroute? Looking at the area around Williamsburg on the way down and Shenandoah National Park on the way back. I know there is a lot of info about Williamsburg, I will search for that today too. Thanks everyone and keep the ideas rolling!
BTW rnr42005, we are discovering that too. The Blue and Grey celebration is coming soon!

West Virginia to Hatteras NC

We are planning a trip for the end of September to Hatteras NC. It is our first big trip since moving to the East Coast. We are starting from a point generally south of Pittsburg, but in West Virginia. Anyway, here is my question(s).
Which is the best route to take? Where should we stay enroute? Generally we will be taking I-64 East from where it meets I-81 once we get out of West Virginia that is!
Thank you all!

RE: Camping in West Virginia

I am fairly new to WV, but have several friends who are long time residents. They would agree with anyone who suggests Blackwater Falls/Caanan Valley/Seneca Rocks. We have not hit any CG here yet since we moved into the area in Nov 07, but those are in our plans for the year already. We are going to Deep Creek Lake in Western MD in 3 weeks to check that area out, FWIW. And we plan to make Pipestem also. Stonewall Jackson looks a bit crowded for my style, but I hear it is nice too. Revelle's is highly recommended. Same owners as Yogi Bear, but has more trees. If you want, Jim, pm me and I will provide more details...

RE: Leaky Kitchen Faucet

I had the same problem twice with my 213. Since the dealer is close, they got to deal with it. First time they replaced the black cup that the Col is referring to and the second time I insisted that they replace the entire faucet since it was also leaking under the countertop. Was not a problem for them since they could write it off as warranty work. Don't know how it worked out yet since the trailer is still winterized.

RE: Campgrounds in Idaho?

Riley Creek, it is a Corp of Engineers cg. Right on the Pend Orielle River/Lake. We stayed there every year for 5 years that we lived in the Spokane area. Sites are large and trees do a great job of providing privacy. Decent playground, large open areas to play ball in and excellent hosts year after year. Couple of full hook up sites but good dump station on site. PM me if you need specific site info.

RE: Nissan CEO, Ghosn hints at killing Nissan Titan!

start soapbox All I can say is I love my Titan. Pulled my 213 from Washington State to West Virgina without a hiccup or letting me down at all. Those people who rip on it are entitled to their opinions and so am I, by God. Sure it does not have as many options as the big 3, but you know what? I liked that, make my purchase much simpler. And it sounds like a truck, kinda like a harley sounds like a bike. We can all compare stats, reviews and pucker sizes all day long, but in the end that is why we have choices. I made mine and you make yours. end soapbox

RE: NW Washington State Parks..

Yes it is Bigdog. That is Tongue Point and that is one of the best tidepool experiences anyone will ever have. Also the beach, Crescent Beach is very fun, during low or high tide you can walk forever out into the bay, it remains very shallow for a long ways. Avoid crossing the creek that empties into the bay however as the private property landowner is a real $#$@$((*&.

RE: NW Washington State Parks..

Stay away from Sequim Bay SP, too close to road. I like Fort Flagler too as another poster mentioned. I was born and raised on the NOP (N Olympic Peninsula). Another great one is Salt Creek Rec Area, a county park just a bit west of Port Angeles. Starting to get too well know by the city folk in Seattle though this time of year will not be a problem.

RE: Jayco JayFeather Thermostat

Norm is right, it is on the top right and it is darn hard to turn on. We have the same unit as you and I hate the thermostat! Once you turn it on you still have to constantly adjust the temp to get it comfortable in there. You really have to push on it to switch it on, it will almost feel like you break it off. Hope you are enjoying your 213 like we are!

RE: condensation - rear hard slide

I have not noticed a problem with our Jayco 213. However, during the night (summertime anyway) we usually leave the bath vent open, and frequently the fantastic fan on. Very low white noise helps me sleep! So far this winter I have not noticed it yet either, but we are not put away for the winter, we are still using it.

Water Heater Draining Q??

Okay, first I reviewed the FAQ, then I searched for the topic. I did not find any answers so maybe you all can help me.
I drained my water system today. Getting cold out now, 19 degrees last night! I opened up my low point drains and the water tank drain. Then I went inside and opened all the faucets to release pressure. Then I went back outside because I forgot the shower. Did that one. Later I came back and removed the plastic plug from the water heater tank. Except nothing came out?!?! Is that normal? Is it because I opened the low point drain earlier in the day? I have been using the water heater all year and I know I did not drain it before this.
Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

RE: Best 07/08 half ton

If you are doing a true comparison, you should include the Titan and Tundra in your evaluation. That way you are comparing true apples to apples.

Are you ignoring Nissan for any particular reason?? ;) I realize that their payload may not be the best in class, but I love everything else about mine. At least give them a test drive.....Equal opportunity and all!

OK you WV folks! A new resident coming your way!!

Now that I have your attention, the question: I am moving to WV and may be forced to reside in the TT for a little while as I look for rental homes. This is in Northern WV, pretty much on the interstate (I-79, I think?) from Morgantown to Weston area. Any suggestions on CG's? Thanks!
As an aside: Anyone have or know of rental houses available in that area, please PM me!
